TUBE SEALING METHODS

HIGH FREQUENCY TUBE SEALING

The safest method for sealing aluminum laminated tubes
High frequency generates an eddy current in the aluminum layer, which heats up the aluminum and adjacent plastic layers. While the temperature reaches the melting degree of plastic, clamps are closed and melted plastic is cooled and formed. Tube sealing is completed. This sealing is for production of medium capacity.

Disadvantages:

  • The inner filling might be damaged due to heat radiotion from HF.
  • Over-melting of tube end happens easily, bad appearance.

HOT JAW TUBE SEALING

Suitable for plastic tubes

Heated jaws apply heat on the outside of the tube to heat up the inside for sealing. This process is less efficient than High-Frequency Sealing. This method is for production of small to medium capacity.

Advantages:

  • Only contacted areas are heated. The physical and chemical characteristics of inner filling are still remained.
  • Sealed area is flat; over-melting phenomenon is contrlled.

ULTRASONIC TUBE SEALING

Suitable for plastic tube & aluminum laminated tubes

The plastic inside the tube is heated and melted by high frequency friction force introduced from ultrasonic horn. Clamps closed and cooled and formed the melted plastic to seal the tube. This methos is suitable for production of small to medium capacity.

Advantages:

  • Only contacted areas are heated. The physical and chemical characteristics of inner filling are still remained.
  • Sealed area is flat; over-melting phenomenon is contrlled.
  • With high frequency oscillation from ultrasonic, the liquid, oil, filling or plastic waste at sealing area is driven away. Sealing effect is more reliable.

HOT AIR SEALING

Suitable for plastic tubes & aluminum laminated tubes

This system heats the seal area inside the tube by hot air. In a subsequent station, the tube is pressed and chilled. This methos is suitable for production of large capacity.

Disadvantages:

  • Althrough in heat process, the exhaust hot air is taken away by heat convection, there is still some hot air flow into tube and the temperature of inner filling is raised; or the inner filling is damaged.
  • Cooling water system is required for cooling head. It is not easy to move the hot air sealer to other place.
  • For biochemical or heat-sensitive products, Hot Air sealer is not adopted for tube packaging.
